Riding Home in the Back Seat

In the semi-darkness
I knew your hand was resting there
and I shifted mine closer and closer
until they met.
The merest touch of the heat of your hand
shot unexpected fire through me,
suddenly I imagined
pressing my lips to yours
embracing you...
I wanted to take your hand in mine
and hold it,
but I dared not break the spell—
the intensity
of almost holding it.
